WHAT IS THE CAMPAIGN?
The 12 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign takes place every year from November 25 to December 6. Specific actions are organized by feminist groups across all regions of Quebec to raise awareness of violence against women. The campaign is an opportunity to demand concrete commitments from the provincial and federal governments to eliminate this systemic violence that continues to exist despite the advances in women’s rights in Quebec and Canada. While some women have scored victories, others are still awaiting change.
In 2022, we live in a society where violence affects many communities. Sexism, sexual violence, racism and homophobia impact the women of the world from the very root of their being. Indeed, this year we wish to uproot the sources of violence before it becomes systemic and ingrained in the vices of society. In other words, we wish to understand violence at its root in order to be able to heal the many mental, moral and physical wounds it still leaves in its wake. [Read more…]
